Bora Bora Airport

Bora Bora is one of the Islands located 250 kms to the north of Tahiti in the French Polynesia and the Airport is located on the Islet of Motu Mute. To get here, one will have to take a 45 minute connecting flights from the Airport located in the Main Island of Tahiti-Bui in the Capital City of Papeete and a 20 minute Shuttle to reach the main Island of Bora Bora known as Vaitape, the main settlement of the Island.

Bora Bora Airport started its Commercial service in the year 1958 even though it originally was opened during World War 2 in the year 1943 by the US forces. Because of Bora Bora's unique location and the fact that there is only one pass to enter into the lagoon called the Teavanui Pass, it was used as a Military base by the US to store ammunitions, gas and to provide US Forces in the South pacific with essential supplies.  It is also known as the Motu Mute Airport, the Airport IATA Code is BOB and the ICAO Code is NTTB.

You will first have to get to The Tahiti – Faaa International Airport, either by using a Charter Plane or a small plane. The International Flights that regularly fly to Tahit-Faaa International Airport are; Air New Zealand, Hawaiian Airlines, Air France, Aircalin, Avation Civile, Air Tahiti Nui, Quantas Airways Limited, Lan Chile and Air Caledonie International. If you have Money to Burn then you can make use of the only Helicopter service, The Plolynesia to get from one Island to the other.

The Airport has a Airport Lounge, a Business Center with wireless internet access, ATM's, Public Phones, Children's Play Area, Car Parking space, Car Rentals, Taxis, Hotel Shuttels, Stores for Shopping, Restaurants and Bars. It has two runways, the longest being 1500*2m.

Bora Bora is well known for its dazzling sights, Blue Ocean and spectacular white beaches that bring a great sense of calm to anyone who chooses to Visit. Even if you are not a Millionaire you can take advantage of this wonderfully romantic holiday getaway by watching your purchases and choosing the more humble and affordable hotels. They will not give you the facilities of the Hilton or the Four Seasons Hotel, but hey you will be able to enjoy this Paradise get away. Make your reservations in advance and understand the timings of the Shuttles from and to the Airport and you  will be OK! BORA BORA!
